The drives are daisy chained together back to the micrologix DSI port. In the past few weeks I've had to change some of the drives out due to water getting in panel and burning them up. The Microologix input terminal block was contaminated as well but showed no errors, but as a precautioned I changed the terminal strip out as well.
I set the parameters in the drives as per the documentation I had, for example: start and speed parameters set to communications port. Each vfd has its own address If one drive is powered down the rest show communication faults F81 Comm loss.
This has shown to be normal when one or more drives are disconnecting from the comm chain. Everything started up fine and was running for a few days and then a new problem arose.
I open the cabinet and micrologix is faulted. Major error code h. I reset it by using the user display by going from run mode to prog and back to run mode. Fault is cleared but nothing communicates. I checked all cables, Ethernet cabling between HMI and micrologix seem fine, green and orange lights. Is it possible the program is lost? I also find weird is that I can shut off one of the vfds and the rest don't fault out like before F81 Comm loss.
I don't have access to a laptop with the program here. I told the plant manager he is going to have to get in contact with the programmer and possibly reload the program. Please read this important info!!! You are not registered yet.

Join Date: Feb Cannot go online or upload from default processor no program. You must perform download. I downloaded the code and everything worked as if there was never a problem. I've heard that power line noise is most often a cause of this. Join Date: Jul I got that fault when I accidentally plugged the RJ45 cable into the ethernet port of the computer instead of the UIC. Ethernet port of the computer got damaged.
PLC seemed fine after downloading. I have a controller that gets that fault way too often for comfort. I did put a line filter on it; didn't help in the slightest. Haven't tried adding an MOV yet. I have noticed that this error is almost guaranteed to occur on the next powerup after I've done a program download; after a couple of power cycles, it doesn't happen nearly as often. I'm running RSLogix 7. I also can't do an online change to this controller from my notebook, either.
The Ethernet link drops every time. I used to think it was just this one PLC, but I tried some maintenance on an existing machine last week and couldn't do an online change to that one, either I think it's also a Series C FRN 9. I have used my current laptop to communicate to many SLC's and have never experienced this comm problem. As far as I know the problem did not occur at powerup. My customer believes the machine was sitting idle when it occurred as they weren't running production that day.
They don't service their own equipment, so I'm almost positive it didn't happen during or immediately after a download. Join Date: Oct I found some info at the bottom of this same discussion in another forum. I checked the ouput of my power supply and it was only 22 when connected to any thing and 23 when open. I didnt think much of the slightly lower voltage till I read this. I havent bought a PS yet so dont kknow if it will work for me yet. What version RSlogix is being used? This may not be the cause but it is something to keep in mind.

I know that on the SLC when the processor has a major fault ,the processor will stop scanning and all the oputput is de-energizeddoes anybody know is it do the same on minor fault?
. I think is the same, processor have only one fault mode.
Program, Run, Faulted, Test. Minor errors, bits 0 to 7, revert to major error H if any bit is detected as being set at the end of the scan.
You can can trap and remember a minor fault and then keep a program running by creating logic to set a bit and then clear the minor fault before an end statement is scanned.
Then you can do whatever you want in your program with that bit. What you can do is have a digital output that is always on whenever the PLC is in run mode. Edited 30 Jun by Alaric.
